Aragon – durch das große Nichts nach Teruel
Wer wirklich einmal das große Nichts erleben möchte, sollte die Strecke von Saragossa nach Teruel durch Aragon fahren. Fast 500 Kilometer nichts. Kein Baum kein Strauch, nur Windkraft- und Solaranlagen, riesige Flächen bewässerter Landwirtschaftsindustrie und am Horizont Berge. Bis endlich Teruel auftaucht und die menschliche Zivilisation wieder zurück ist.
Teruel ist berühmt für seine Mudéjar-Architektur und den Serano Schinken. Es ist ein UNESCO Weltkulturerbe, das sich leider auch an die traditionelle Mittagssiesta hält. Alles ist zu und wir müssen weiter, Richtung Costa Blanca.
If you really want to experience the big nothing, you should take the route from Zaragoza to Teruel through Aragon. Almost 500 kilometres of nothing. Not a tree, not a bush, just wind turbines and solar panels, huge areas of irrigated agricultural industry and mountains on the horizon. Until finally Teruel appears and human civilisation is back again.
Teruel is famous for its Mudéjar architecture and Serano ham. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which unfortunately also adheres to the traditional lunchtime siesta. Everything is closed and we have to move on towards the Costa Blanca.
