Die dritte Königsstadt hat eine 2.300 Jahre andauernde Geschichte. Sie war einmal die zehntgrößte Stadt der Welt und herrschte über das Königreich Patan. Heute ist sie prächtig wie eh und je. Doch auch hier hat das Erdbeben 2015 seine Spuren hinterlassen. Tempel wie Palast mussten fast komplett neu aufgebaut werden.
Buddhistische und Hinduistische Tempel reihen sich aneinander, dazwischen posieren Brautpaar für die Hochzeitsfotos, Schüler:innen feiern ihr Abitur und Bauern verkaufen ihre Ernte. Auf und um den Platz am Königspalast wird gelebt.
The third royal city has a history spanning 2,300 years. It was once the tenth largest city in the world and ruled over the kingdom of Patan. Today it is as splendid as ever. However, the 2015 earthquake left its mark here too. Temples and palaces had to be almost completely rebuilt.
Buddhist and Hindu temples are lined up next to each other, brides and grooms pose for wedding photos in between, students celebrate their graduation and farmers sell their harvest. Life is happening on and around the square at the Royal Palace.
