Indien: Chennai Fischmarkt

Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu and, with a population of 6.5 million, is quite confusing. The path along the beach is beautiful and still quite empty in the early hours of the morning. Stalls and playground equipment stand on the sand, abandoned until the next stream of visitors. And immediately afterwards, the fish market. Women sit along a whole street selling their husbands’ meagre catch. Flies and garbage characterize the first impression.

The whole stand full of plastic waste. In between, fishing boats, huts, covered with giant old posters. Poverty, dirt. Perhaps an introduction to what to expect on the next 2,500 km through the south of India.
